WHMIS
A “Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System” course, otherwise known as WHMIS, is a requirement to join Local 856. We will only accept certificates that have not expired. If you took WHMIS as part of a post-secondary program, the institution may be able to issue a certificate if you do not have one already.
The courses listed below are WHMIS providers that Local 856 has approved and will accept certificates for:

First Aid
Basic Emergency First Aid is a requirement for membership in IATSE 856, and Intermediate Standard First Aid is a requirement for many departments.
Note: Any First Aid courses hosted entirely online will not be accepted.

Collective Agreement Course
Once a month, IATSE 856 offers the Collective Agreement Course for both permittees and members.
