Ready, Set, Go!
An introduction to IATSE 856
IATSE Local 856 is a labour union that represents the specialty artists and technicians who work in film and television production in Manitoba. Once you have decided to apply to become a permittee, you will be required to take two courses – WHMIS and Ready, Set, Go! An Introduction to IATSE 856. These are in addition to department specific qualifications.
Ready, Set, Go! introduces participants to the world of filmmaking, information about the union, the benefits of working in our industry (as well as the challenges), the dos and the don’ts of working on set, a review of relevant paperwork, best practices for safety awareness and more. By offering this course in person, permittees will have the chance to meet office staff, members, and network with each other during these sessions.
Ready, Set, Go! is based on similar courses that are required by other IATSE locals and will be offered in person once a month – or as demand requires. Cost to attend is $50.
